Co-hosted by the Adler Museum of Medicine and the University of the Witwatersrand Faculty of Health Sciences, the Johannesburg exhibition featured more than 100 photographs by people living with HIV from around the world, commissioned works in two and three dimensions, and live storytelling by Johannesburg participants. The city’s cohort of Through Positive Eyes artivists—artist-activists living with HIV—shared their photographs and personal stories with medical students, school groups, and the general public. The Adler Museum also presented a program of events commemorating World AIDS Day on December 1, 2016, bringing faculty research into conversation with the artivists’ photography, storytelling, video, and audio.
