Through Positive Eyes, Mexico City Metro

In 2008, Mexico City became the first site for the Through Positive Eyes photo-storytelling project, initially known in Spanish as Una Mirada Positiva. Photos and stories from the project were shared at the 2008 International AIDS Conference in Mexico City, after which a presentation of images and words was organized in the Mexico City Metro. The UCLA Art & Global Health Center collaborated with Letra S, an LGBTQ advocacy organization based in Mexico City, to make the Metro exhibition possible. UCLA lecturer Janna Shadduck-Hernandez played a major role in the Metro project as co-producer, alongside Robert “Bobby” Gordon, a staff member with the UCLA Art & Global Health Center.
